What is Silicone?

Silicone is a polymer derived from stone and sand (SiO₂), where silicon is extracted and bonded through siloxane linkage
(Si-O-Si).
This molecular structure allows silicone to possess both inorganic and organic properties, and it can be classified into
oil, rubber, or resin depending on its form. Shinsung Silicone utilizes rubber-type silicone to manufacture kitchenware, baby
products, household goods, and industrial products. Depending on the product type and application, both High-Temperature
Vulcanized (HTV) and Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) are properly employed.

Key Advantages of Silicone Rubber

Silicone rubber possesses a stable chemical structure unmatched by any other elastomer material,
and as a non-corrosive and non-oxidizing compound, it demonstrates excellent properties such as heat resistance, cold resistance, electrical
insulation, chemical stability, abrasion resistance, gloss, and superior elasticity. In addition, its high permeability to gases and
heat is about 100 times greater than polyethylene and 10–20 times greater than general synthetic rubber. Through advanced
compounding technologies, silicone rubber can be engineered to exhibit a wide range of physical and electrical properties,
including ultra-insulation, extreme heat resistance, and flame retardancy, making it a highly advanced and versatile material.

무독성

Non-Toxic

Silicone, derived from sand, is physiologically inert and
harmless to the human body. It is ideal for manufacturing
food containers, medical supplies, and baby products.

내열성

Heat Resistance

Superior to organic rubber, silicone withstands continuous
use for over 10,000 hours at 200℃, remains stable at 150℃
for semi-permanent use, and can endure up to 300℃ for
short periods.

내한성

Cold Resistance

Among all organic rubbers, silicone has
the best low-temperature resistance.
It retains elasticity at -55℃ to -70℃ and
can even withstand extreme
temperatures below -100℃.

내후성

Weather Resistance

Silicone shows minimal physical changes
when exposed to ozone, UV rays, or
rain. It is especially resistant to ozone
degradation.

절연성

Electrical Insulation

With a low carbon ratio in its chemical
structure, silicone is widely used as an
insulating material.
Even after combustion, silica remains,
ensuring excellent electrical insulation.

Wide Applications

Thanks to its outstanding properties, silicone is extensively used not only in household goods but also across nearly all industries,
including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, automotive, construction, and electronics. In recent years, silicone has gained higher
recognition for its safety, leading to growing applications in the medical industry. In line with this trend, Shinsung Silicone has
been registered with the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as a quasi-drug manufacturer and obtained approval
for the production and sales of menstrual cups, demonstrating its continuous commitment to expanding new business areas.

Silicone Care Tips

세척하기

Cleaning

If the product feels sticky or doesn’t clean well, wipe it first
with baking soda, then wash again with dish soap for a
spotless finish.

Odor Removal

Soak in a solution of baking soda + water, soju:water (1:1),
sugar:water (1:2), or rice water for about 4 hours.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry in sunlight
for another 4 hours.

Sterilizing

Silicone products with high heat
resistance (-40℃ to 250℃) can be
sterilized hygienically by boiling for 30
seconds or microwaving for 30 seconds.

After Long-Term Storage

Boil in water with baking soda for
3 minutes, then wash to remove
stickiness and restore the silicone
for safe use.

Storage

Since moisture can cause stains, clean
and sterilize the product after use, dry
completely, and store to prevent stains.
